Abstract Amyloid aggregation has been associated with crucial diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and type Ⅱ diabetes. The rate of amyloid fibrillation is depending on various conditions such as pH, temperature, salts. In this research, we investigate the relationship between the presence of Hofmeister series and the kinetics of HEWL amyloid formation. The aggregation of the amyloid can be characterized by the presence of a lag phase, followed by a rapid growth phase. By using ThT assay, the rate of the fibril formation, which varies according the identity of salts contained, can be examined. This research reveals how ions in Hofmeister series affects the aggregation rate.
