Abstract |
Plasmonic gold nanoparticles exhibit unique size- and shape-dependent optical properties, which is caused by the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) collective oscillation of conduction electrons in gold with the incident light. In this study, we investigated the optical properties of single plasmonic gold nanocubes (AuNCs) using a dark-field (DF) microscope, a differential interference contrast (DIC) microscope, and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). We found polarization- and wavelength-dependent optical properties of single AuNCs under DF and DIC microscopy. Therefore, we provide a deeper insight into the optical properties of AuNCs at the single particle level, which can be beneficial for their uses in biological and energy applications. |
