Abstract |
The purpose of the current study is to obtain a novel type of probe based on the interaction between heparin and specific type of fluorophore which demonstrates aggregation induced emission (AIE) properties. AIE is a phenomenon which enables its fluorophores to fluoresce only when they are in solid state. After a certain treatment, the obtained probe tends to assemble to micelles which allows AIE luminogen to aggregate and, eventually to fluoresce. This methodology provides a high selectivity towards analytes that are considered under interest. To afford a proper condition for micelle formation, the proportion of hydrophobic part to hydrophilic part in probe was equalized by including long chain amino acid (12-amino dodecanoic acid). Each step of synthesis was successfully completed and proved by FT-IR, 1H NMR and UV-absorption tests. The emission properties of obtained probe were evaluated by using photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The morphologies of forming micelles were examined by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). These results will eventually enable to offer a new approach to design a unique type of probe with aggregation induced emission properties, which will be applicable for bioimaging purposes. |
