Abstract |
Emulsion has attracted attention not only scientific research but also in industrial fields such as petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic. Emulsion is a special type of mixture of two or more immiscible liquids. In addition, emulsion is classified as oil in water (O/W) or water in oil (W/O). W/O emulsions are less studied when compared to O/W emulsions. In this study, we introduce the detection of W/O emulsion droplets with and without ferrocyanide. This is based on the emulsion droplet reactor (EDR) technique. When collisions of a W/O emulsion were observed on a ultramicroelectrode (UME), a spike-shaped current of the oxidation reaction occurs. The results from the collision signal provide information about the size of each single droplet and the concentration of the water droplet in the organic continuous phase. |
