Abstract |
Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy is differential absorption between left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized light in IR region. We have developed VCD spectroscopy applicable to gas phase chiral molecules. Circular polarized IR laser pulses alternating left-handed and right-handed were generated using photoelastic modulator. Chiral molecules in a supersonic jet were irradiated with circularly polarized IR laser pulses and ionized with UV laser pulses by resonance-enhanced multi photon ionization (REMPI). We investigated that the enantiomeric pair of the chiral molecule shows opposite sign in OH stretch region with good S/N ratio. |
