Abstract |
A new type of luminescent carbazole-containing organometallic complexes has received much interest because it can exhibit interesting optical properties such as emission-color tuning and increase of quantum efficiency. We have recently developed salen-Al dyads containing other functional groups, such as boron dipyrromethane (BODIPY) and triarylborane (TAB), thus controlling intramolecular energy transfer (IET) between them as well as leading to unique emission features. In this regard, we designed novel host-guest systems based on the salen-Al complexes containing carbazole units to induce unique photophysical changes and enhance the emission efficiency. The detailed synthesis, characterization, and optical properties of these host-guest systems (D1 and D2) in conjunction with theoretical calculations will be described.
