Abstract |
Functionalized bimetallic nanospheres were synthesized and studied for the visual detection of cadmium ions(Cd2+) in aqueous samples. The optical properties and physical properties of silver coated gold nanoparticles(Au@Ag NPs) were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The influencing factors such as pH and temperature, reaction time were investigated. The intrinsic color of the Au@Ag NPs changes from orange yellow to light green with cadmium ions. The colorimetric method was successfully applied to the determination of Cd(II) in real samples.
