Abstract |
Recently corrole compounds, which have very similar core structure with porphyrin, have been attracted many interests with respect to synthetic strategies and biological applications. Although photophysical properties of corroles are similar porphyrin molecules, biological characteristics exhibit more improved applicability for molecular imaging, detection and degradation of tumors, G-quadraplex regulators, catalytic degradation of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (ROS/RNS), anti-microorganism and generation of singlet oxygen as photosensitizers. Herein, we reviewed various free base- and metallo-corroles and their biological applications. |
