Abstract |
Two new metal organic coordination polymers, [(TC)6Zn3(bipy)] (1) and [(TC)6Co3(bipy)] (2) (bipy = 4,4'‐bipyridine and TC = 3‐thiophenecarboxylate) were successfully synthesized by solvothermal reactions. The two coordination polymers were crystallized in the triclinic space group, P-1 (No. 2), which was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The title compounds are isostructural each other and reveal infinite chain structures consisting of MO6 octahedra, MO4N trigonal bipyramidal, TC, and bipy ligands (M = Zn2+ or Co2+). M2+ cations are coordinated by TC ligands and form M3O12N2 trimers. The trimers are very similar to the peddle wheel structure. The reported coordination polymers were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, elemental analysis, and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectrum. Photoluminescence and direct-current magnetic susceptibility are also presented. |
