Abstract Herein, for the first time, the cyclic voltammetry study for the viscosity of polymer solution has been reported. To follow the conversion of the polymer increase, high viscosity of solution hindered diffusion of redox species, resulting in the steady-state current decrease. All of the electrochemical experiments were conducted on an Au ultramicroelectrode (UME). Polymer was synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using methyl methacrylate (MMA), and the polymerization results confirmed with NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. The relationship between molecular weight of polymer and viscosity of solution was also investigated.
