Abstract The LSC is a device that employs luminescent dyes to concentrate the sunlight on PVCs (Si cells) attached through the polymer waveguide. It has many advantages such as the possibility of various designs with very high transparency and desirable shape and color. It is also economically competitive and can be processed in the air with high stability. We applied octahedral rhenium clusters as a luminophore, which has transparency due to the low absorption at visible range and zero-reabsorption due to the massive Stokes shift. The metal clusters, (Bu4N)4[Re6S8(NCS)6] and (dMDAEMA)4[Re6S8(NCS)6] were prepared by reaction of (Bu4N)4[Re6S8Cl6] with molten KSCN and dMDAEMAI were uniformly mixed with PMMA. The LSC with octahedral rhenium cluster exhibit >90% transparency and >1.5% efficiency depending on various concentrations.
