The enantioselective Henry reaction is one of the efficient reactions in organic synthesis of the chiral alcohols. New Cu(II) complexes, (L1)CuCl2, (L2)CuCl2, and (L3)CuCl2 were synthesized, in addition to the X-ray crystal structure determination of (L1)CuCl2, where L1 is N,N'-bis(4-methoxybenzyl)R,R-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, L2 is N,N'-bis(3-methoxybenzyl)R,R-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, and L3 is N,N'-bis(2-methoxybenzyl)R,R-1,2-diaminocyclohexane. The geometry around the Cu(II) metal in (L1)CuCl2 was found to be square planner. The synthesized dichlorocomplexes and their diacetato derivates were investigated for asymmetric nitroaldol reaction between benzaldehyde and nitromethane in the presence of diisopropylethylamine. The enantioselectivity towards (s)-2-nitro-1-phenylethanol was found be 90% for (L2)Cu(OAc)2.
