Abstract: The dispersion stability of the Ag nanoparticles with a mixed surfactant of alkylcarboxylates was quantitatively examined. The nanoparticle with a mixed surfactants have far-improve dispersion stability compared with those with a mixed normal alkylcarboxylates. The composition of the surfactant layer was analyzed by measuring the amounts of organic surfactant in the Ag nanoparticles by HPLC. Depending on the research, the followings are needed to increase the dispersion stability of the Ag NPs: (1) the chain length of alkyl carboxylate has to be sufficiently think, (2) the difference in chain length should be ? 1:1. The dispersibility may be increased further by introducing a tertiary or quaternary surfactant mixture.
