We have fabricated the digital microfluidic chips based on electrowetting-on-dielectrics (EWOD). The mutilayer of chip was prepared by using various kinds of methods including photolithography on a glass substrate in nano and micro thickness. The layer of positive photoresist was spin coated and using mask-aligner, we made micro pattern of electrodes. After development, ITO was deposited on the surface and the patterned electrodes were fabricated by lift-off method. 1μm Parylene C or SU-8 was deposited as a dielectric layer and finally for hydrophobic top coat a 200 nm Teflon AF 1600 was deposited by the spin coating method. The performances of this system, when they are applied in electrowetting and in moving a liquid drop on a simple opened microfluidic chip, were successful. Based on these results we could construct the opened chips for merging, separating and moving the liquid drop samples. Also with these properties, we can handle many kinds of chemical or biological reactions.
