Magnetic nanomaterials were used for developing target specific magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrasts agents, biomedical diagnostics, therapeutics and separation of biomaterials. Synthesis of poly(2-Acetamido-2-deoxy-6-O-methacryloyl-D-glucopyranose) containing sugar moiety were prepared and introduce to magnetic tri-block nanorod(Au-Ni-Au) and evaluated for their ability to bind lectins, virus, and bacteria. Two-component tri-block magnetic nanorods with gold end blocks and nickel interior blocks have been synthesized by AAO template method and used for the efficient detection and separation of a sugar-binding protein. The resulting conjugated polymer with sugar moiety/ magnetic tri-block nanorod(Au-Ni-Au) Hybrids were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Dynamic light scattering (DLS), FT-IR spectrophotometer, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
