Halloysite, a clay material with regular nanotubular morphology, has recently become the subject of scientific interest owing to its utilization as adsorbent and nanotemplates instead of other nanotubes such as carbon nanotubes. In this study, we synthesized composites from halloysite nanotubes and copper nanoparticles using a mechanochemical approach. It was observed that the copper nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of the tubes, which improves the colloidal dispersion of the nanotubes in water for different applications. It was also found that the particles were relatively regular in size, shape, and dimension. The composite materials were characterized by using different physico-chemical methods such as FT-IR and UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction analysis, and transmission electron microscopy.
