Metal-organic-frameworks (MOFs) are undoubtedly the most versatile porous material with high surface area because MOFs offer a wide variety of structures which can be tuned with large diversity of metal ions with a numbers of organic linkers[3]. While significant advances in the synthesis of variety of MOFs have been made, there has been comparatively less success in the application of MOFs. Although MOFs have been demonstrated for the application in catalysis[3,4] and gas storing materials [5,6]including methane and hydrogen, to date there have been no reports on the application of MOFs in an electrical energy storage device. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report demonstrating MOFs as an electrical charge storing material. As cobalt oxides have been known as an efficient material for a supercapacitor[1,7,8], the present study investigated the possible application of Cobalt based MOFs in an electrical energy harnessing device.
