The ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized as reacting aqueous-alcoholic solution of zinc nitrate with sodium hydroxide under ultrasonic irradiation at room temperature. The hybrid nanomaterials of graphene and zinc oxide were synthesized in an electric furnace at 700 °C for two hours. The heated graphene-ZnO nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. In addition, by using UV-vis spectroscopy, the heated graphene-ZnO nanocomposite was detectable as a catalyst in the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes. The photocatalytic effect of heated graphene-ZnO nanocomposite was tested as being compared with that of graphene nanoparticles, heated graphene nanoparticles after synthesis, unheated graphene-ZnO nanocomposite in organic dyes such as methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (RhB) under ultraviolet light at 365 nm.
