We have been studied the synthesis and properties of Si-nanoparticle/graphene composites as an anode material of lithium ion secondary batteries. Negatively charged graphene was prepared by surface functionalization, and the surface of the Si-nanoparticles were also treated with silane coupling agents for covalent bonding formation between the grapehen and Si-nanoparticles. The size of the used Si-nanoparticles is 30 ? 50 nm, and the graphene was synthesized by chemical exfoliation method (Samsung SDI). The obtained product was measured by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) to characterize the chemical modification for covalently linked Si and graphene. The electrochemical properties and their charge/discharge behavior was evaluated using the half-cell type coin cells consisting of lithium metal anode, 1.5M LiPF6 in EC/DEC/FEC (5:70:25 v/v) electrolyte and separator (polypropylene). Then, the constant current and controlled voltage (CCCV) mode electrochemical charge and discharge tests were performed between 0.01 ? 1.5 V versus Li/Li+ with 0.2 C-rate.
