Zeolite-X is a well known traditional nano-porous system which has a relatively simple structure and large specific surface area. And thus it has been watched as a candidate system for the hydrogen storage material by physisorption mechanism before the appearence of MOF(metal organic framework) or carbon based systems. Though there are progresses on the hydrogen storage materials, still it is far from the practical requirement. Hydrogen spillover which is a kind of fusion of two mechanisms, physisorption and chemisorption, has been attracted much attention to achieve a breakthrough on the hydrogen storage. However no clear evidence on the spillover mechanism or reaction has been reported in a microscopic point of view. Nano-sized Platinum (2.5wt%, 5.0wt%) and Palladium (2.5wt%, 5.0wt%) metals were doped into the Na-X powder samples by the reduction method (PtCl2 + H2->Pt(s) + 2HCl). H2 and D2 adsorption isotherm curves, an in-situ neutron diffraction experiment and an in-situ electorn paramagnetic resonance experiment were carried out. The change of the hydrogen uptake by Pt/Pd-doping will be discussed in terms of microscopic arguements.
