On account of the important roles of anion in biological, clinical, environmental, catalysis, and chemical processes, the selective and efficient recognition of anion is an area of growing interest in supramolecular chemistry. Among anion receptors, colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensors are important because they provide high sensitivity and convenience for monitoring the anion recognition. In particular, the studies of chemosensors toward fluoride anion are quite intriguing because of its beneficial effects in human physiology. Therefore, developments of reliable sensors for fluoride ion are needed for environment and human health care. In most cases, fluorescent sensors involve photo physical changes such as photo induced electron transfer, photoinduced charge transfer, metal-to-ligand charge transfer to fluorescent chemosensors. We report here two novel chemosensors to a specific optical response to F-with coumarine and pyreneamidebipyridine derivatives.Binding properties were investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy, 1H-NMR and color changes and fluorescence analysis.
