Heterometallic liquid crystals are of special interest because of possibility to combine properties of different metal ions in one mesogenic molecule. We are reporting here the synthesis and studies of heteronuclear liquid crystalline complexes on the base of [3]ferrocenophane-containing ligands. Using rotationally fixed [3]ferrocenophane with incorporated promesogenic building blocks can improve liquid crystalline behavior of ferrocenomesogens as compared with unbridged ferrocene counterparts. In order to study new heterometallic mesogenic systems, we synthesized [3]ferrocenophane-containing Schiff’s bases and bis-chelates with Cu(II), Pd(II), and Ni(II). The obtained ligand and complexes were characterized by 1H NMR, element analysis, IR, UV-Vis and mass-spectroscopy. According to polarization microscopy and DSC studies complex of Cu(Ⅱ) with reporting [3]ferrocenophane-containing ligand showed nematic behavior in temperature range between 210℃ and 237℃. Pd(Ⅱ) complex showed nematic properties in rather high temperature more than 250℃.
