Phosphorescent materials allow light emission to occur from both singlet and triplet states, enabling internal quantum efficiencies close to 100 % to be demonstrated. Among those, Ir (III) complexes are important and have been studied. Most of phosphorescent materials can be used in highly efficient OLEDs. However, the phosphorescent OLEDs are fabricated by vapor deposition of several organic layers. This makes the deposition process, and consequently device fabrication, relatively difficult and expensive. It is therefore desirable to explore approaches to solution processable phosphorescent materials. The most successful route to solution processable phosphorescent materials is to use dendrimers. Thus, in this work, we designed and synthesized a novel iridium cored dendrimer with end-capped alkoxy group. The electronic and optical properties were investigated by different methods.
