There has been a great effort to utilize hydrogen as a source of clean energy due to the growing concern on both the shortage of fossil fuels and concomitant generation of green-house gas. Hydrolysis is a potential technique for the generation of hydrogen from water, not to mention the most abundant chemical identities on the earth. In this work, we have synthesized a series of dendritic cyclic-polyethers and corresponding host-guest type metal complexes with alkali metal borohydrides. Hydrogen generation as well as regeneration of the starting host-guest complexes was scrutinized to show that polyether template increases not only the efficiency of hydrogen generation but also their concentration in aqueous solution.
