Polyimides (PIs) are potential candidates for a large variety of applications such as circuit boads,coating, adhesives, matrices of composites, etc., due to their high performance, excellent thermal stability, good radiation resistance, good strenth and dielectrical properties. Herein, we report a facile method to grafting polyimides (PIs) from the surface of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) via "grafting-from" approach. PIs-g-MWCNTs were characterized for structural, morphological, thermal, electrical properties by using TEM, XRD, TGA, FT-IR, and four-probe measurements. Also, the mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. Results show that PIs have been functionalized with MWCNTs and composites exhibited with improved thermal stability, elctrical condctivity and mechanical properties. This method provides to link CNTs covalently to other polymer matrices.
